Market index

BlueChip Index

Is the collector-car market going up or down? The BlueChip Index answers with one line: what the same cars sell for, quarter by quarter, built from every completed sale we hold.

Same cars, not a changing mix

A yearly median moves whenever cheaper or dearer cars happen to sell. The index compares each model only with itself, so a quarter full of 996s and a quarter full of Ferraris are measured on the same footing.

Mileage held constant

Every sale is restated at a common mileage using that model's own measured mileage curve, so a run of low-mile cars doesn't read as a rising market.

Real sales only

Completed sales only — a reserve-not-met high bid is not a price. The shaded band is a 95% interval; the current quarter is left out until it closes.
